DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS PLANTS TREES TOWARDS ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

The departmental staff with other  stakeholders participated in tree growing and planting efforts in Naivasha after their week long stakeholder engagement Curriculum review workshop.

The stakeholders involved in the workshop included

            1.     African Economic Research Consortium (AERC)

2.     The National Treasury and Economic Planning (NTEP)

3.     The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA)

4.     PROPEL Health (Palladium)

5.     Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR)

ECOSA STUDENT LEADERS MENTORED

The newly elected Economics Students Association (ECOSA)  leaders were on Tuesday, 9th April 2024 mentored by the Departmental Chairman, Dr. Martine Oleche. 

Invited to speak to the leaders was the UoN Dean of Students - Mr. Johnson Kinyua. 

The leaders were taken through the expectation of professional students' leadership and available opportunities of growth in leadership and soft skills that are vital in the industry.

Kenya- Japan Collaborative project on Industry and Quality of Work Life

The Department of Economics and Development Studies held a successfull discussion with Area
Studies Departments of Tokyo University and Kyoto University. The discussion centred on Kenya-
Japan Collaborative project on Industry and Quality of Work Life. The Project will be funded by the
Japanese Society for the Promotion of Sciences. In attendance were: Dr. Martine Oleche, Prof. Moses
Murithi, Prof. Emeritus Germano Mwabu, Dr. Phyllis Machio, Prof. Takahashi Motoki, and Associate
