Economics Students Mentored on Career Opportunities and Life Skills

The Department of Economics and Development studies organized for mentorship talk for its students on career opportunities on 30th November, 2023. The students were mentored by staff from Public Financial Management Reforms Secretariat (PFMS), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National Treasury.

Guest speakers were:

1) Kennedy Oliver Mwenda - PFMRS

2) Jackson Kiprono - National Treasury

3) Lydia Olumbe - Kenya Revenue Authority

 

During the talk students were sensitized on the available opportunities on the three organizations and other government organs. The KRA speaker focused on reforms in Resource Mobilization. She educated students on the reforms to boost tax revenues as well on career opportunities in KRA such as the Graduate Training program.

 

Other topics covered included;

  1. Public Procurement Reforms & Reporting and oversight of Reforms.
  2. Planning of PFM Reforms at the National and County Level.
  3. KRA Tax Reforms and Tax Awareness.

 

The Department of Economics and Development studies is grateful for the Mentorship. Such Mentorship opportunities will continue to be organized by the department in its quest to producing a well and all-rounded graduate that is ready for the market.
