An economics student, Peter Nguka has won The Student Governor of the Year awar
An economics student, Peter Nguka, has won The Student Governor of the Year award. The award was given by Corporate Career Academy. Mr Nguka made history by becoming the inaugural winner of the student Governor of the Year category of the Uongozi Career Awards. Uongozi Career Awards aim to identify, recognize and amplify the voices of career champions who have dedicated their time and efforts towards Career-aware, career-ready, financially aware, emotionally well-future industry leaders.
The competition for the awards was officially launched on 1st December with the opening of the nominations which closed on 14th December. Peter was privileged to be nominated among other 8 student leaders across the country for this category. This was preceded by the voting process which was done online by students across the country. To crown the winners, the Gala awards ceremony was held at the University of Nairobi, Chandaria Auditorium on the 21st December 2022, where Peter Nguka was announced as the winner of the student Governor of the year. The department of economics and development studies congratulates him on this win.
During the nomination, students highlighted that Nguka had put a lot of effort into helping them realize their career goals. They noted that he had organized career fairs, public lectures, job fairs among many other activities. Mr Nguka is a fourth-year student pursuing bachelor of economics in the department of economics and development studies. He is also the Govenor, the University of Nairobi Students association, and the Faculty of Arts and Social sciences.
Mr. Livingstone Makori, the founder of Corporate Career academy while making his remarks noted that the journey to a better future, great industries, a developed economy, and successful future professionals begin with preparing the youth for the roles ahead. He lauded the winners of the various categories for the efforts that they had made to reach this far. Other winners included; The University of Nairobi Students Association, the office of the career office, and the dean of students.
