On 19th March 2015, THE Collaborative Ph.D. Programme in Economics (CPP) students reported to the School to embark on their PhD thesis research. CPP is a collaborative training programme among Sub-Saharan African Universities in the field of postgraduate training in Economics, executed by the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), with active participation of member universities. Under the programme, the School admits students who proceed to the University of Dar es Salaam for course work, then return to the University of Nairobi to write their PhD theses.

The CPP Class of 2013 has a total of 5 students, all with full Scholarships from the Government of Kenya through the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). The students have just completed their course work and comprehensive examinations from the University of Dar es Salaam, the Host University under the Collaborative Programme.

Ciliaka M. W. GITAU is a Doctoral candidate at the School of Economics, University of Nairobi. She also holds Masters of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the same University. She is a qualified Certified Public Accountant and Certified Securities and Investment Analyst. Her research interest is on International Finance, International Trade, Financial Economics, Institutional Economics, poverty and development Economics.

The aim is to ensure effective integration of new staff so that they can deliver efficient and effective services. The staff was inducted on University teaching procedure, examination procedure, research and consultancy procedure and non-teaching responsibilities.
