school of economics project wins 3rd prize 2016 pep best practice awards

A School of Economics project received the 3rd prize in the 2016 Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) best practices award. The certificate of award was given on 8th June 2016, during the PEP Annual Conference held in Manila, Philippines. The project is funded by the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) under the Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS).  The certificate was awarded in recognition of active engagement in linking research findings to policy action at the national level, as well as for the quality of the research work conducted in the context of the PEP-supported project – ‘Entrepreneurship as a Mechanism to Address Youth Unemployment and Poverty in Kenya: Case Study of Murang’a County’.

The members of the research team are Dr. Diana Kimani, Mr. Michael Murigi, Dr. Phylis Machio and Dr. Patrick Kariuki (SEKU). Mr. Stephen Mwangi, a Planning Officer with Murang'a County Planning Department, has been very instrumental in linking research to policy. Prof. Jane Kabubo-Mariara, Director, School of Economics is the project mentor.
